Global firm Clyde & Co has significantly expanded its Projects & Construction and Dispute Resolution practices in Saudi Arabia with the addition of four new partners.
This expansion includes the promotion of Andrew Archer, Brendan Molck and Will Cadwaladr to partner and the hire of prominent Saudi national lawyer Talal Al-Othman. These appointments further reinforce the firm’s long-standing position as a market leader in Saudi Arabia spanning over 15 years.
Clyde & Co’s Saudi construction practice was established in 2012, and the promotion of Andrew, Brendan and Will further strengthens the firm’s market leading practice led by Ben Cowling, an existing Riyadh partner and Head of Middle East construction. All three partners bring with them extensive regional experience in complex construction arbitration, litigation and alternative dispute resolution on behalf of government entities, employers, main contractors, and subcontractors.
Andrew, Brendan and Will work as part of Clyde & Co’s Middle East projects and construction group, renowned for its foremost construction contracting and disputes offering. Established in 1999 and ranked Band 1 in all legal directories, the team is involved in contentious and non-contentious matters on the region’s most high-profile projects.
The promotions highlight the firm’s commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s rapidly expanding construction market and reflects the increasing client requirements for specialised local advice and representation. Brendan and Will are based in Clyde & Co’s Riyadh office, with Andrew continuing his focus on Saudi arbitration from Dubai.
In addition, highly respected lawyer, Talal Al-Othman has joined the firm’s Riyadh office. Talal brings expertise in both commercial arbitration and commercial litigation before the Saudi Commercial Court and Board of Grievances. Fluent in both English and Arabic, he has held senior positions at prestigious public sector and government-owned entities, building on his background in private practice. With a strong reputation in the Saudi legal community, Talal brings a wealth of experience in navigating the complex legal challenges within the Kingdom’s evolving regulatory landscape.
Abdulaziz Al-Bosaily, Managing Partner of Clyde & Co Saudi Arabia, comments: “The addition of the four new partners ensures we can continue to provide a combination of sector expertise and internally trained local specialists to help clients navigate the Kingdom’s largest and most challenging projects and disputes.”
Ben Cowling, Head of Clyde & Co’s Middle East Projects & Construction practice, adds: “Adding three construction specialist partners on the ground is a major leap forward for our Saudi construction practice, meaning that our offering to clients is greatly strengthened. Having known Talal for many years, I am also very excited about the insights he can bring to our construction matters. Clients come to us seeking the benefit of our long and hard-earned experience on Saudi construction projects and disputes, however we can now offer much greater capacity to respond to their needs in one of the fastest-growing markets for infrastructure and development globally.”
Clyde & Co has been operating in Saudi Arabia for over 15 years and has more than 30 legal professionals, including 12 partners, across its Riyadh and Jeddah offices. The team of internationally trained local specialists advise international and domestic businesses exploring the emerging commercial opportunities and the legal considerations of doing business in the Kingdom.
