Brendan has experience across a range of institutional rules including SCCA, ICC, UNCITRAL, DIFC-LCIA, DIAC, arbitrateAD, and ICSID.  Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Brendan worked for a Tier 1 construction practice in an Australian law firm.  During that time he was seconded to the international arbitration team of a leading Spanish law firm in Madrid, specialising in construction disputes.  Working across various common law and civil jurisdictions has helped equip Brendan to quickly identify the critical issues in international construction disputes.

Brendan has worked across various industries, including road, rail, marine, LNG, commercial and residential.  Whichever the industry, Brendan enjoys gaining a deep understanding of the technical engineering issues so he can present these in a clear and concise manner to tribunals and courts.

Experience
  • Acting for interior fit out contractor on claim against main contractor due to prolonged works on hotel and residence project in Riyadh in ad hoc arbitration.
  • Advising EPC contractor with respect to its FEED deliverable on an iconic offshore project in Saudi Arabia.
  • Acting for Spanish design consultant in dispute on a high speed railway project in Saudi Arabia.
  • Acting for contractor defending final account dispute with subcontractor on luxury project in Dubai in DIAC arbitration.
  • Acting for contractor defending SAR 1.6b claim by developer of shopping mall in Abu Dhabi over late opening of mall in LCIA arbitration.
  • Acting for contractor defending claim by MEP subcontractor on iconic residences in Dubai for purported delay and disruption in LCIA arbitration.
  • Acting for contractor in SAR 7.5b international arbitration under ICC Rules against design consultant concerning tendering and design of LNG plant in Australia.
