David Thompson is a Legal Director in our Birmingham office and focuses on catastrophic injury and cross border litigation. He is well-known in this field. 

He routinely works with insurers, brokers, loss adjusters and corporate clients on claims within motor, employers’ liability, public liability and product liability risks. His caseload typically includes matters to do with serious brain injury, spinal cord damage, amputation, chronic pain and fatalities.

In respect of jurisdiction and conflict of laws disputes, David’s expertise has led him to advise clients under Rome II, Brussels I (recast) and common law. In such disputes, David is equipped to deal with complex issues involving foreign lawyers while providing expert evidence to the court. 

David also acts on behalf of a nationwide broker scheme for businesses in the leisure industry. His experience encompasses a wide range of sectors, primarily including leisure, aviation and construction. 

Outside of his litigation duties, David is the co-lead of our Cross-Border subject matter group and a member of our Catastrophic Injury Amputation subject matter group. He regularly delivers presentations at various events on claims defensibility and claims trends analysis.
