Marlie McDonnell advises insurers in coverage matters arising from catastrophic and other potentially high exposure commercial property and liability claims. She has state and federal coverage litigation experience defending insurers against alleged statutory and common law, first- and third-party bad faith claims, as well as extra-contractual damages claims in multiple jurisdictions. Marlie also prosecutes declaratory judgment actions and fraud claims on behalf of insurers and serves as counsel for policyholders under third-party liability policies. Recently, she has advised domestic and global insurers related to COVID-19 losses and has successfully defended COVID-19 business interruption litigation in multiple jurisdictions.
Marlie has extensive commercial litigation experience in state and federal cases. She has represented individuals and businesses in disputes involving real property, financial services, contract claims, business torts, intellectual property, securities, employment relationships, and state and local government actions. Marlie is skilled at all stages of litigation from inception through jury trial, and the appeals process.
After graduating from law school, Marlie completed a two-year clerkship with the Brunswick Judicial Circuit Court in Brunswick, Georgia.
