James works in personal injury litigation, acting exclusively for road traffic, employers' and public liability insurers and their insureds. James is a Chambers listed lawyer and is described by the Legal 500 as a "leading individual", his main areas of focus relate to cases of the utmost severity, amputees, brain injury, spinal, serious orthopaedic and chronic pain.
James also leads the Clyde & Co's claims validation offering for third party motor, employers' and public liability. This includes dealing with claims pre litigation using analytics to identify and prevent fraudulent claims, through to defeating such claims at trial and recovery actions.
Special interests include the 'Jackson' reforms to civil litigation, periodical payment orders, the Ogden Tables and future care costs.
James has written articles for the legal and insurance press and has also contributed to Butterworths Personal Injury litigation service.
James has provided numerous seminars to insurers, insureds, solicitors, brokers and other interested parties in the UK, US and Europe on topics relating to personal injury litigation.
