Gretchen S. Carner has extensive litigation experience representing insurers in a wide variety of insurance coverage issues. Her insurance expertise includes coverage advice in the areas of general liability, professional liability, broker’s and dealer’s, property and casualty, D&O and workers’ compensation as well as employers’ liability coverage. Gretchen has also handled significant litigation involving coverage issues relating to bodily injury, personal injury, advertising injury and property damage.
Gretchen has substantial experience handling general business disputes and the defense of professionals in cases alleging errors and omissions by lawyers, architects and engineers, escrow agents, directors, officers, insurance agents and insurance brokers. She advises HOA boards and their directors in various matters and defends them in litigated disputes. Gretchen has successfully defended several trial court rulings in her clients’ favor in the California appellate courts. She advises employers on issues of discrimination, wrongful termination and sexual harassment/abuse and has litigated those issues in both administrative and state court proceedings.
Gretchen has participated as a speaker in seminars relating to good faith claims handling practices, annual training seminars on the California insurance claims handling regulations, professional malpractice issues geared toward loss prevention and on issues relating to malicious prosecution actions.
