Clyde & Co is deeply committed to the public sector. We act for government bodies across the UK to help them to succeed in a range of areas of legal work.
We are at the forefront of development and are recognised for having a deep-rooted understanding of the local authority sector. We have worked with developers, local authorities, lenders and other stakeholders on a number of schemes across the UK, often involving some level of public/private partnership where we are acting for the private sector.
We are also able to offer the expertise of our specialist procurement law team who are specialists in public sector procurement laws and have been involved in some of the biggest infrastructure projects in the market, having developed particular experience in structuring deals outside of the procurement regime. They frequently advise on related public law and competition issues in procurement activity. In state aid the team advises on compliance with the regime as well as the full range of enforcement and recovery proceedings.
We have a well established Public Sector Group that ensures all of our lawyers working with public sector clients have deep rooted knowledge of the sector, consistency of approach and risk assessed advice. Our joined-up thinking and approach sets us apart from our competitors in the sector. Our teams working with the public sector have a deep understanding of the issues and sector trends. We regularly advise at the highest level of authorities, including reports to Cabinet, full council and stakeholders.
Members of our team have worked at local authorities, including Cheshire East Borough Council and Lancashire Council, dealing with public – private sector partnering, town centre redevelopment, residential delivery, highway and infrastructure arrangements including grant funding and disposal and acquisitions.
We hold positions on a number of existing public sector frameworks and act for over 70 local authorities, whether on procurement, state aid, major planning matters, housing, construction, litigation, development and regeneration projects, procurement, state aid or data protection, or as insured clients.
We believe our clients want lawyers who give advice, rather than just explain the legal options and similarly, that the advice provided is commercial and pragmatic to help you succeed.
