Paul Wainwright is a partner and the head of our costs practice group. He is responsible for delivering all costs solutions and leads a team of 50 specialists.
Paul has over 12 years of experience handling complex multi-party claims, group litigation and professional negligence cases. He is a legal cost, casualty and fraud specialist with particular expertise in emergency injunctions and associated regulatory issues. Paul is the lead costs partner on the BSCOWL GLO and has represented the defendant's at the CCMC ‘Financial incontinence’: judge slashes group action costs | News | Law Gazette and continues to act in the substantial detailed assessment.
Throughout his career, Paul has represented both paying and receiving parties in technical costs arguments. He has also acted for clients in Court of Appeal (CA) and Supreme Court (SC) cases.
Paul is a skilled mediator, trained in all types of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). He has successfully concluded many seven-figure claims via formal mediation. Notably, Paul represented the defendant's working group in the Civil Justice Council mediated NIHL agreement.
Paul is a member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL) and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX).
