He has also appeared in the courts of other Canadian jurisdictions, including British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Ontario. Jeff has defended developers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders from a variety of construction sub-trades—residential developments, hotels, condominiums and more—in cases involving structural and building envelope deficiencies, among others.
Focusing on insurance and risk management, he resolves disputes for insurers and defends them against professional liability claims in areas such as property damage litigation, bodily injury, product liability and class action lawsuits. In addition, Jeff has experience defending medical professionals against claims of negligence and breach of contract, working in close collaboration with subject matter experts to obtain their opinion on applicable care standards and to assess financial implications. Moreover, he is recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada for his work in energy law, insurance law and personal injury litigation.
Outside of his practice, Jeff dedicates his spare time to the community, previously serving on the boards of two local organizations: ASSIST and Providence. The former is a non-profit that offers mental health support to Alberta lawyers, students and their families, and the latter provides schooling for children with developmental delays and disabilities. Jeff was also former Chair of Calgary Legal Guidance and is currently a volunteer mentor for the Law Society of Alberta.
