Charis has advised and represented corporations and individuals in proceedings before all levels of the Singapore Courts in a range of contentious disputes involving issues relating to contractual disputes, alleged breaches of director’s duties, insolvency-related matters, and employment contracts.

Expérience

• Acted for the founders of a software company in an SIAC arbitration against a shareholder’s claims of alleged breaches of a shareholders’ agreement and minority oppression.
• Acted for and advised the judicial managers of Hyflux Ltd, one of the largest corporate insolvencies in Singapore.
• Successfully defended a former executive director against an interim injunction application arising out of a restraint of trade claim brought by one of the largest e-commerce companies.
• Successfully defended a Cayman Islands incorporated company and its directors against claims for USD 1.8 million arising out of alleged breaches of a joint venture agreement.
• Successfully acted on appeal for a director of a rubber processing company over a guarantee for a corporate loan of approximately USD 2 million.
• Advised a major trust company of an umbrella unit trust with multiple sub-funds with respect to its rights and obligations, and strategizing course of actions to mitigate risk in the termination of the umbrella unit trust.
