Afolabi is a Senior Associate (Solicitor-Advocate) in the London office and specialises in commercial dispute resolution within the Aviation/Insurance sectors.
Afolabi joined Clyde & Co on qualification in 2018 and is a Senior Associate (Solicitor-Advocate) in the Aviation Liability department in our London office.
Afolabi has Higher Rights of Audience (Civil) and his practice covers a wide range of complex cross-border disputes on behalf of a variety of industry participants across the world. Afolabi qualified into Clyde & Co’s IFPD Group and has extensive experience of commercial disputes; as well as assisting insurers on policy coverage disputes, liability defences, and subrogated recoveries across different forums. He also advises clients on the terms of commercial agreements and general risk mitigation.
Afolabi regularly presents at workshops for clients in the insurance market.

Advising a major contingent and possessed (re)insurer on multi-billion dollar claims brought by lessors concerning high value assets in and around Russia following its invasion of Ukraine.
Advising a commercial air carrier regarding an engine performance guarantee dispute (subject to AAA Arbitration rules) with an original equipment manufacturer.
Successfully obtaining summary judgment for an aircraft maintenance company, and further advising on overdue judgment debts following High Court enforcement action.
Assisting an airline and its insurers in a multi-jurisdictional subrogated recovery claim involving the total loss of an engine following equipment faults during landing.
Advising a maintenance, repair and overhaul company in High Court proceedings concerning contractual breaches and wrongly retained assets.
Successfully obtaining a debarring order preventing a non-compliant party from participating in High Court proceedings.
Assisting and advising various insurers following a major aircraft loss, up to and including an LCIA Arbitration final hearing.
Advising reinsurers on policy coverage relating to claims concerning customs seizure of a commercial fleet of aircraft.
Advising various insurers on COVID-19 focused Business Interruption and Property Damage claims, and regulatory compliance with evolving Financial Conduct Authority guidance on the same.
Advising insurers on policy coverage following damage to a wind turbine.
Advising a major international private wealth bank in relation to defaults under various loan agreements and guarantees, and consequential enforcement in foreign jurisdiction.
