James practices civil and commercial litigation, including insurance defence, professional liability, and construction claims. He joined our Vancouver office as an Associate in September 2024, having previously articled and practiced for a boutique insurance defence firm. 

Prior to law school, James obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Ottawa, followed by a post-baccalaureate in teaching from Thompson Rivers University. He spent two years teaching English in Japan before attending law school at the University of Alberta. 

While attending law school, James was an elected member of the Student Articling Committee, and over three years helped promote and organize events and seminars to assist law students with finding clerkships, articles, and summer jobs, including his law school’s annual career fair. James won the “Odishaw Family Prize in Techniques in Negotiation” for achieving top marks in techniques on negotiation. Following his graduation, he returned home to BC for his articles.

James is fluent in French and is conversational in Japanese.
