Alex joined Clyde & Co in 2016 and is a member of the International Arbitration team. During his time at the firm, Alex has worked on a wide range of commercial disputes. He has experience of litigation and arbitration (both ad hoc and institutional, and governed by the LCIA, UNCITRAL and ICC rules).

He has acted for states, state-owned enterprises and corporations. He has represented clients in a wide variety of sectors, including aviation, energy, construction, real estate, pharmaceuticals and technology. He has particular expertise in the energy sector.

Alongside his commercial disputes experience, Alexander has dealt with multiple regulators and public authorities in respect of criminal and public law matters, and has conducted internal investigations.

Expérience
  • Acting for a technology company in respect of a dispute worth approximately GBP 40 million in the Technology and Construction Court
  • Acting for a Middle Eastern pharmaceutical company in an LCIA arbitration worth approximately USD 70 million regarding the termination of a distribution agreement
  • Acting for a State in related ICC and UNCITRAL arbitrations worth in excess of USD 25 million related to a State-wide power generation project
  • Acting for a UK company in an LCIA arbitration regarding termination of an agency agreement with a Central American agent/distributor
  • Advising a UK company in respect of an SFO investigation into allegations of bribery in respect of an energy project in Africa
  • Advising multiple parties in respect of reporting requests by a UK regulator
  • Conducting an internal investigation into allegations of bribery in respect of the purchase and sale of oil and gas fields in Africa
  • Advising a state on a proposed termination of a production sharing agreement and potential arbitration worth in excess of US$500m
  • Advising a state-owned entity in respect of multiple disputes with an international oil & gas company
