Michael's practice involves international sale of goods, carriage of goods by sea and charterparty claims, as well as debt recovery and enforcement of security work. He also has experience with in rem ship arrest proceedings and he co-authored the chapter on “Enforcement of Maritime Claims” in the textbook Maritime Law and Practice in Hong Kong (1st ed., 2015, Sweet & Maxwell). Michael has been involved with a number of high-value general commercial litigation cases, with several featuring listed companies. Additionally, he advises insurers on marine insurance coverage matters.
He has argued applications at the High Court level and in arbitration proceedings.
Michael is admitted as a Solicitor of the High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.
