Hugh's experience covers product and mass exposure liabilities, and he recently led the defence of the “Sonae Fire Group Litigation” culminating in the dismissal of over 16,000 claims. At the Personal Injury Awards 2015, Hugh was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award for his excellent work on the Sonae case and was highly praised for his approach to the complex scientific and fraud issues.

Hugh also represented Argos, the defendant, in the “Toxic Sofa Group Litigation”. This resulted in a progressive claims handling agreement leading to significant cost savings.

Other highlights include his work for Network Rail arising from the Ladbroke Grove rail disaster, where he succeeded in the House of Lords in upholding the principle of ex turpi causa. Hugh is also recognised for his strategic approach to invisible injury claims and his experience in asbestos-related matters.
