Douglas Maag joined Clyde & Co in 2009, bringing to the firm a wealth of international regulatory, compliance and transactional experience gained over a thirty-year legal career as both outside and in-house counsel, and as a commercial arbitrator.
At Clyde & Co, and as former general counsel of the international operations of one of the world’s largest global insurers, Doug has handled a broad array of legal matters affecting business operations in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. He regularly advises clients on US economic sanctions and trade regulations, and compliance with the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, anti-boycott requirements and anti-money laundering regulations. Doug has provided counsel on a variety of international transactional matters, including acquisitions, divestitures and establishment of new business operations, as well as legal support and analysis for emerging market opportunities. Doug also has extensive experience in trade finance matters, and in handling and resolving complex commercial, insurance and reinsurance disputes in the US, London and Bermuda markets.
