Tim van Kampen is a member of the firm’s UK London based global specialty insurance practice and works in the political risk/trade credit team. He advises on Trade Credit insurance and Capital Relief insurance solutions for banks as well as advising on reinsurance matters related thereto.
Having gained global experience in the financial services sector while working as a legal counsel for a leading trade credit insurer, Tim has developed and designed innovative products as well as successfully managed complex industry disputes where the worlds of the (re)insurance and banking industry meet.
Tim also gained a wealth of experience leading negotiations on complex cross border transactions that arose from the aftermath of the credit crisis and was involved in the design and application of internal policies and sanctions issues, advising the business teams on the same and instructing external counsel. With this background he returns to private practice to use and apply his knowledge of the trade credit insurance industry to be of service to Clyde & Co’s valued clients in the financial services industry.
Expérience
Broad experience in advising on wording for trade credit insurance policies.
Basel III(IV)-compliant credit risk mitigation insurance policy wording (conditions, explanatory guidance & training workshops) and ancillary documentation with the purpose of providing capital relief to insured financial institutions.
Experience with insurers group litigation & disputes; mitigating and providing support in complex claims litigation (managed EUR 1.07 billion in exposure during the last 5 years of inhouse experience).
Advising on structuring new insurance business via electronic platforms (fintech).
