Lea Kelsey is a Senior Associate in the Healthcare team within Bristol.  She cross-qualified from a legal executive to a solicitor in 2015 and she has been acting for NHS Resolution and medical defence organisations for over 9 years. 

Lea's interest in this area stemmed from her love of science. She has previously completed a biochemistry degree, which included the study of various areas of medicine, including oncology, molecular biology, physiology, and neurology.

Lea has developed a deeper understanding of their business needs by providing support to her clients through various secondments and assisting on a number of her clients' helplines. She has also arranged a number of well-received training events for both her clients and her colleagues.

Expérience
  • Lea manages a mixed caseload of clinical negligence claims for a variety of clients both in the public sector and for medical malpractice insurers across all areas of medicine, including gynaecology, orthopaedic, oncology, cardiology, cardiac surgery, nephrology, and general practice.  
  • She is passionate about providing support to her clients' members involved in such claims, including both hospital Trust clinicians and general practitioners, and has considerable experience in guiding clinicians through the litigation process.
  • Lea has experience of the investigation of potential birth injury claims under the NHS Resolution Early Notification Scheme.
