Afraz was seconded to Vitol as lead legal counsel for the Middle East, helping them establish their solar business in the region.
In February 2024, Afraz was nominated as a stand-out lawyer in Thomson Reuters Stellar Performance Survey of Stand-out Talent. The survey results are formed through interviews with senior in-house counsel during which they are asked to identify stand-out lawyers they have worked with over the past 12 months.
Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Afraz acted as General Counsel for a portfolio company owned by the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD). During his tenure, as part of top management he was instrumental in expanding the group's business from being a start-up (government owned) to a well-known global logistics business in just three years. Before moving to Dubai, Afraz worked at a top-tier law firm in India, where he advised some of the biggest private equity investors from the US on M&A and private equity deals in India.

Afraz is a legal director in Clyde & Co’s corporate group and is based in the Dubai office. He is a member of Clyde & Co's energy sector focus group. With over a decade of regional experience, Afraz has advised many of the region’s leading corporates along with prominent multi-national companies (MNCs) and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) on cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A), divestitures, joint ventures (JVs), and corporate structuring.
