Luis has been based in the firm´s Madrid office since 2018, after having over 15 years´ experience acting as international legal coordinator at two leading Spanish infrastructure and construction companies. 

Luis advises clients with transactional issues in foreign jurisdictions, acting as central point of contact and coordinating advice flowing in from different jurisdictions. This often involves helping clients to resolve practical language and local counsel difficulties at an early stage to prevent problems escalating. Luis has also become the receptor of foreign interest in Spain, teaming up with international corporations and investors around the world wanting to do business in Spain. 

Luis has significant experience on development agreements, EPC and O&M agreements and share and asset purchase agreements, including due diligence of projects in relation to M&A transactions as well as all necessary steps and documentation for the incorporation and launch of operations in Spain.
Working in English, Spanish and French, Luis has applied his skills in the energy, diversified industrials, construction, aviation and financial institutions sectors. 

Luis holds Bachelor of Law, as well as a LL.M and a PhD in Politics, International Relations and Administration Science with a line of research focused on the GCC countries and the Middle East region. Luis is also Associated Professor of International Trade at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) since 2014, as well as regular lecturer in different Master programs at the UCM and the ICEX (the Spanish public business entity whose mission is to promote the internationalization of Spanish companies and the promotion of foreign investment worldwide). 

Expérience
  • Advising a large Chinese contractor in relation to the purchase of solar energy projects in Spain, including the performance of the pertinent legal due diligences.
  • Advising a large Qatari company to invest as a new relevant shareholder in one of the largest mining and engineering companies in Spain, acting as local counsel and authorized representatives of the company, to manage, coordinate and supervise the investment. 
  • Advising a global aviation company in relation to the 50M Euro sponsorship of a high-class Spanish football club. 
  • Advising a global Australian investment group in the due diligence to acquire one of the most famous Spanish night entertainment groups.
  • Advising an Indian investment group on the acquisition of shares in one of the largest international private tv platforms in Spain
  • Advising an international large rolling stock company by preparing different legal reports analysing and assessing on the set up of business in different jurisdictions.
  • Advising various Spanish renewable energy contractors on corporate legal opinions in relation to different infrastructure projects performed in Latin America.
  • Advising a Spanish air company on the drafting of the necessary documentation to bid for the ground operation contracts in several Spanish airports. We provided commercial, corporate and public procurement advice until the completion of the transaction, which ended successfully for our client.
