Robert’s experience with contractual and commercial matters involve international debt recovery and breach of contract claims, as well as partnership and shareholder disputes. His clients include individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), national, and multinational corporations. Robert advises on international service of debt recovery proceedings alongside tracing of assets prior to enforcement against them. 

Robert’s property practice involves preparation and service of notices under the relevant statutes, including for repudiatory breach of leases and associated remedies. Robert also advises on the legal aspects of dilapidations claims and on the interpretation and application of restrictive covenants.

Robert advises on both bankruptcy and winding-up petitions and works with Insolvency Practitioners to seek the best possible outcome for clients, particularly where there may be allegations of wrongful trading or preference payments under the Insolvency Act 1986.

In addition to this, Robert assists with high value claims against financial institutions as well as professional negligence claims. He understands the importance of considering the cost of disputes and litigation alongside the commercial risks and benefits. As a result, he advises clients on the most appropriate strategy for their particular circumstances, including options available for Alternative Dispute Resolution.

  • Insolvency – presenting bankruptcy and winding up petitions and advising on potential outcomes pre- and post-Order, including liaising with Insolvency Practitioners regarding recovery action.
  • Insolvency - Representing clients regarding Creditors’ Voluntary Arrangements and advising on merits.
  • Property litigation – Represented a large insurance broker in defence of a substantial dilapidations claim, reaching a commercial settlement at mediation.
