Katie is a Legal Director in the Casualty & Healthcare team. She is based in our Manchester office and joined Clyde & Co in November 2011.
Katie has extensive experience in handling catastrophic and large loss injury claims for key insurer clients of the firm. Her own caseload includes handling road traffic accident, employers’ liability and public liability claims valued from GBP 100,000 to GBP 5 million. She also assists a partner on claims valued up to GBP 20 million.
Katie has developed expertise in advising on a variety of injury types including serious orthopaedic, amputations, chronic pain and brain injuries and regularly advises clients on complex motor policy and liability issues.
Katie has a keen interest in collaborative working with Claimant's Solicitors, speaking at the PEOPIL conference in Amsterdam about the importance of collaborative working in catastrophic injury claims in accordance with the Serious Injury Guide. She has also been involved in the development of a bespoke training and mentoring scheme for rising stars at a key insurer client focusing on core technical and soft skills, which is now being rolled out to other insurer clients of the firm.

Advising a Polish insurer on liability and quantum issues arising out of an upper limb amputation claim pleaded at over £2 million
Advising insurer clients on complex motor policy issues arising out of fraudulently obtained policies and where vehicles have been taken without consent.
Achieving the withdrawal of a contribution claim arising out of a workplace accident where the claimant sustained an above the knee amputation
Advising insurer clients on somatoform symptom disorder and functional neurological injury claims.
