Fred has trial experience both on claimant and defendant side and can advise clients with an eye to the long term but has successfully resolved far more disputes at earlier stages. He has experience leveraging settlement offers to achieve positive outcomes for clients including at mediation.
As part of his advice Fred aims to understand his clients’ business to offer pragmatic solutions and to achieve commercially sensible outcomes. He further has experience with costs budgeting, third party litigation funding and after the event insurance and can advise comprehensively on costs. Fred speaks fluent French and German, having previously worked as a legal translator, and speaks conversational Spanish. His language skills are of particular value in cross-border matters where foreign language documents are involved.

Advising private healthcare providers on litigation risks arising out of commercial relationships with medical practitioners as well as on the application of the Bribery Act and Private Healthcare Market Investigation Order 2014.
Defending energy consultants in claims by customers for disgorgement of alleged secret commissions received from energy suppliers.
Defending a business dispute arising out of the breakdown of personal relationships to successful trial.
Acting for business claimants against high street banks for mis-sold interest rate hedging instruments ranging in value from GBP 1m to GBP 20m, including in respect of alleged LIBOR manipulation.
Acting on the agent and principal side in termination of commercial agency relationships claims.
Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Fred acted for claimants in professional negligence claims including notably in a multi-million pound claim arising out of a cross-jurisdiction mortgage and a firm of solicitors’ failure to issue a claim within limitation involving complex loss of chance arguments.
