Michael has a particular focus on complex policy coverage and business interruption advice, working on claims in the commercial property, hospitality, manufacturing and energy sectors. Specifically, Michael has represented re/insurers in several significant tower fire claims in the GCC, regularly speaking on the issues that such claims present.
In respect of medical malpractice and healthcare, Michael regularly advises medical professionals, hospitals and clinics on both contentious and non-contentious matters. This includes providing representation before regulatory authorities and in both criminal and civil litigation. Michael is co-head of Clyde & Co’s MEA Healthcare Group.
Michael regularly advises re/insurers on general liability claims (coverage, monitoring and defence) arising under Commercial General Liability, Employers’ Liability & Workmens’ Compensation, and Public & Product Liability policies across a variety of different sectors and jurisdictions.

- Successfully defending liability re/insurers and their policyholder in respect of a claim arising from property damage to over 3,000 motor vehicles in the UAE.
- Successfully defending liability re/insurers and a mall operator in respect of multiple criminal and civil claims following a mall fire in the UAE.
- Advising liability re/insurers on the defence of a claim for USD 8 million arising from damage to a vessel in Tunisia.
- Advising liability insurers and an international hotelier on civil and criminal litigation defence and jurisdiction issues in connection with a serious sexual assault at one of their premises.
- Advising insurers and an automotive manufacturer in relation to a large number of product liability and recall claims.

- Advising re/insurers on a USD 332 million subrogated recovery following a significant cladding fire at a high-profile hotel in Dubai.
- Advising re/insurers on a USD 80 million subrogated recovery in respect of damage to a reformer at a methanol plant in Oman.
- Advising re/insurers in relation to a significant subrogated recovery arising out of the explosion of generator transformers at a power plant in Saudi Arabia.
