Simon is a construction and insurance litigator in our London office with significant experience in defending claims against construction and property professionals, particularly, Design and Build Contractors, architects, surveyors and other design consultants.  

Simon regularly acts for some of the largest engineers, contractors and insurers in the world in relation to high value, complex claims from pre-action through to litigation and adjudication.  

Simon also advises on complex and technical coverage issues in respect of construction all risks and professional indemnity policies. 

Before specialising on construction disputes, Simon maintained a broader practice and also acted in relation to claims against solicitors, accountants, IFAs, valuers / surveyors and mortgage brokers. 

Expérience

• Advising and representing a global construction firm / their insurers in relation to multiple cladding and fire safety related claims on major residential and commercial developments, along with advising on and pursuing recovery claims.
• Advised and successfully mediating a large multi-party claim against hydrological engineers in relation to severe flood damage caused to residential properties.
• Successfully defeated adjudication against a large design and build contractor in respect of the design and construction of pre-fabricated bathroom pods for high-rise student accommodation.
• Advised insurers in relation to PI coverage in respect of concrete damage occurring at a heavy duty port.
• Advised and defended claims against design and building contract contractors in respect of glazing failures to high-end commercial / office developments, along with advising on and pursuing recovery claims. 
• Advising and assisting Insurers in relation to PI and CAR claims in respect of alleged negligent design and damage occurring at schools, hospitals and within PPP projects.
