Robin is a Senior Associate in the firm's Professional & Commercial Disputes team. He specialises in defending professionals at all stages of litigation, including in the High Court, and in the pre-action stage, and he also has extensive experience of alternative dispute resolution, particularly mediation. He provides advice to insurers on a full range of policy issues.

Robin is a Senior Associate in the Professional & Commercial Disputes team, located in the firm’s Manchester office, since February 2013. Robin is generally instructed by Professional Indemnity insurers, and specialises in claims against professionals, including brokers, solicitors, surveyors and property management companies.

 

Expérience
  • Representing a large Global property Services Company in respect of a claim by an investment fund alleging negligence in respect of a building survey report of a large mixed-use commercial property, valued at over £5million, in the Technology & Construction Court.
  • Defending a firm of solicitors and the Executors of the Estate in respect of a claim by a liquidator of the deceased’s company, alleging that payments made from the company to the Estate amounted to a preference in breach of s.29 Insolvency Act 1986.
  • Defending a firm of solicitors against a claim of negligence, in  the Business & Property Court,  for failing to advise a developer that he had failed to notify the qualifying tenants prior to its purchase of the freehold title to the land, resulting on the tenants exercising their right to purchase the freehold title, and allegedly adversely impacting the developer’s ability to complete a proposed residential development, with the claim valued at over £3million, including lost profit from the anticipated development.
  • Representing a large property consultancy firm in regard to a claim of negligence by a lender relating to its role as monitoring surveyor of a large residential development in the North West of England, involving a unique building method, with the claim value at over £4million.
  • Representing a firm of solicitors against a claim of negligence as result of allegedly negligent advice in regard to the Claimants purchasing the freehold title to their property following the collapse of the property during construction works, allegedly resulting in them not being in a position to rebuild it, also in the Technology & Construction Court.
  • Successfully acting for a large Property Services Company at Trial, in the Leeds County Court, in respect of a claim for commission on a property it marketed for sale, surrounding whether our client was entitled to charge a commission relying on a joint sole selling rights provision in its terms, where another firm ultimately facilitated the sale to the buyer.
