Richard has a background in Rail and has acted for Rail companies in Inquiries, Inquests and Prosecutions arising out of numerous rail incidents including the rail crashes at Southall, Ladbroke Grove, Hatfield, Potters Bar and Grayrigg.and has also acted for the Emergency Services in manslaughter and causing death cases.

Defending Rail Infrastructure company in several rail incidents including in regulatory investigations and a prosecution following a significant flashover at their electrical distribution substation at Godinton, Kent supplying electricity to the live rail system and prosecution brought by the Office of Road and Rail for failure to comply with enforcement notices relevant to the nationwide arrangements for earthing some 10,000 650V lineside electrical cabinets.
