Mica is an experienced commercial litigator with a focus on claims against directors and officers and professionals in the financial services industry.

Mica acts in complex commercial litigation including class actions, claims arising out of large corporate insolvency events, alleged market misconduct and contentious coverage matters.

Mica has a passion for being involved in the defence of securities class actions and often advises on complex coverage issues in relation to class actions. Mica predominately acts for directors and officers, professionals and insurers in relation to large financial losses.

Mica also acts in the defence of various professional indemnity and management liability claims. She has acted for financial planners, accountants, auditors, brokers, solicitors, barristers, architects and real estate agents in defence of claims in the Federal Court, NSW Supreme Court, Victorian Supreme Court, Victorian County Court and the NSW District Court.

Mica is also listed on Australasian Lawyer's Rising Star 2021 list (2021).

• Securities Class Action: Advising primary and excess insurers in a securities class action arising from one of Australia’s largest corporate collapses of an ASX top 200 company.
• D&O Defence Instructions: Acting for an unlisted funds manager on an off-market takeover bid against ASIC on appeal in Federal Court of Australia in NSW.
• Financial Services Class Actions: Advising primary and excess insurers in a relation to numerous class actions arising out of the Banking Royal Commission.
• Shareholder Disputes/Derivatives Action: Advising insurer in relation to application by a minority shareholder to issue proceedings (in the name of the Company) against a global mining company.
• Retail & Consumer Litigation: Defence of an auditor in relation to a Federal Court claim of alleged misleading and deceptive conduct.
• Professional Indemnity Litigation: Defence of a barrister against claims of negligence. Defence of an expert accountant against a non-party costs order. 
• Cyber: advising an ASX listed company in response to a high profile data breach which involved investigations and inquiries by regulators.
