Vicente graduated from Escuela Libre de Derecho in 1998, obtaining his license to practice as a lawyer in 2000, with an awarded thesis Commercial Arbitration and Litigation, a Comparative Analysis. In the year 2001, he commenced his LLM in International Commercial Arbitration at the University of California, Davis, obtaining his degree in 2007. From 2010 to 2012 he carried out a PhD course at Universidad Panamericana and is currently working on his thesis.

Vicente is a lecturer at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) and Universidad Panamericana on civil and commercial procedure and arbitration. He is also the author of the book 'International Commercial Arbitration', published by Limusa in 2009.

With over 23 years' of experience in the areas of commercial litigation & arbitration, Vicente has handled complex litigations in different sectors (banking, maritime, insurance, bankruptcy) and he has been counsel, co-arbitrator, sole arbitrator and president of Arbitral Tribunals, in more than thirty  arbitrations (ICC, ICDR, CAM and CANACO).

Prior to joining the firm, he was a partner at a boutique litigation firm in Mexico City specialising in complex litigation.

Expérience
  • Extensive experience in matters involving oil & gas, insurance, international trading, banks, construction, shipping and general commercial litigation disputes.  Clients include oil & gas companies, rig and vessel owners, banks, trustees, construction and consulting companies.
  • Extensive bankruptcy practice, and is currently representing the major creditor in the most important bankruptcy proceeding in Mexico.
  • Advising in complex litigation, particularly in the construction, energy, insurance and maritime sectors.
  • Advising in multi-jurisdictional disputes involving court and arbitration proceedings, including ICC, ICDR, CAM and CANACO.
  • Appointed as an arbitrator in several cases by the ICC, the CAM and the CANACO.
  • Representing two Panamanian companies in an investment treaty arbitration against the Mexican government.
  • Representing a Mexican infrastructure company against a Estate government, obtaining a US$35 million dollar award, currently handling the enforcement proceeding.
