Germany’s leading business magazine has recognized Clyde & Co, as well as three of its lawyers, in its 2022 list of the most renowned law firms and lawyers for both Litigation and Arbitration in Germany.
Partner Henning Schaloske and Counsel Christoph Pies have been named to WirtschaftsWoche’s annual list of top litigators in Germany, and Counsel Georg Scherpf was recognized for Arbitration.
Clyde & Co’s German Dispute Resolution practice is fully integrated into the firm’s leading global practice and specialized in national and international litigation and arbitration across the firm’s core sectors in insurance, energy, marine, aviation and projects & construction as well as international trade and corporate disputes. In particular, the team regularly acts in D&O, professional indemnity, product liability as well as commercial disputes and other liability matters. Clyde & Co’s team of disputes and insurance lawyers is one of the largest dedicated disputes practices globally as recognized by The Lawyer’s Top 50 Litigation survey.
Henning Schaloske is a Partner in our Düsseldorf office, chair of the firm’s European Board and member its Global Insurance Executive. He has extensive experience in litigation as well as domestic and international arbitration (institutional and ad hoc), with a focus on (re)insurance, D&O liability, professional indemnity, and post-M&A. In arbitration, he is experienced as counsel as well as arbitrator (chairman/sole and party-appointed) and is certified as an arbitrator for (re)insurance disputes with ARIAS Germany, where he acts as a board member.
Christoph Pies is a Counsel in our Dispute Resolution practice and co-leads our Düsseldorf litigation team. Christoph has extensive experience in national and international litigation and arbitration proceedings. He focuses on commercial, liability and corporate disputes, in particular in the fields of international trade, product liability, professional indemnity, D&O liability as well as post-M&A and shareholder disputes. In arbitration, Christoph is experienced as counsel and sits as arbitrator. Christoph further co-leads our German ESG and climate change practice.
Hamburg-based Georg Scherpf is a member of Clyde & Co’s Global Arbitration Group, focusing on commercial and investment arbitrations leading the Hamburg arbitration team. He has particular experience in disputes in international trade (CISG) and the energy and construction sector, as well as corporate disputes (joint venture and post-M&A). He has represented clients in ad hoc arbitrations seated in Germany, England, Switzerland, Austria, France, and Singapore and under all major institutional rules. He regularly also sits as arbitrator and frequently publishes, also co-authoring commentaries on the ICSID and DIS arbitration rules.
In collaboration with Handelsblatt Research Institute (HRI) more than 1,650 Dispute Resolution specialists from across 146 law firms were asked to name the most renowned law firms and lawyers in their legal field. A jury of experts finally singled out a list of the best 35 law firms in the field of Litigation with 55 highly recommended lawyers, and the best 35 law firms in the field of Arbitration with 48 lawyers. Earlier this year, WirtschaftsWoche named Clyde & Co’s Eva-Maria Barbosa (Munich) a top M&A lawyer, Jan Spittka (Düsseldorf) a top Data Protection lawyer, and Tanja Schramm as well as Henning Schaloske (both Düsseldorf) have been awarded for Insurance Law.
