Canming has almost two decades of experience advising and assisting multi-national clients in relation to Chinese dispute resolution issues. He has represented clients before various Chinese courts, including the Higher People’s Court in various provinces and municipalities, and the Supreme People’s Court in Beijing.
In respect of arbitration, Canming has extensive experience across various arbitral centres and rules including CIETAC, SHIAC, CMAC and HKIAC. He is currently representing multi-national clients with recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards before Chinese courts.
Canming is particularly well placed in advising on a broad range of marine and trade-related matters involving bill of lading, charterparty, insurance, ship arrest and mortgage enforcement, general average and collision. He also has significant experience in advising NVOCCs, freight-forwarding and logistics companies in both contentious and non-contentious matters involving air, sea, and road transportation. His experience extends to other general commercial matters in relation to shipbuilding, terminal operation, as well as commodities and trading.
With almost 20 years of experience as a Chinese litigation lawyer, Canming has a deep and insightful understanding of Chinese laws, regulations and practices, as well as how Chinese courts work in adjudicating cases, enabling him to provide commercially practical legal advice to clients.
