Ben’s practice focusses on M&A transactions, including acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures in the energy and infrastructure sectors. He has particular expertise in the renewables sector, acting for domestic and international clients on the sale and purchase of operating businesses and renewable energy assets across multiple technologies. His practice is geographically diverse, combining a strong track record in the UK with international experience in a range of other jurisdictions, recently as diverse as Central and Eastern Europe, South America and South Africa. 

Ben has also developed significant expertise in climate finance and carbon markets, where his experience includes advising on the structuring of international carbon transactions, primary and secondary ERPAs, project implementation agreements and financing structures.

Experience

• Advising a renewables investment manager on the acquisition and disposal of a number of “ready to build” and operating solar assets in the UK. 
• Advising an international developer on its disposal of interests in renewable energy platforms (primarily onshore wind) in Africa and Chile.
• Advising an international developer on its acquisition of an indirect stake in a number of operating offshore wind farms in the UK and related joint venture arrangements. 
• Advising a UK developer on its acquisition of a number of “ready to build” BESS assets in the UK and related joint venture arrangements.
• Advising a sustainable infrastructure fund on acquisitions in Turkey and Serbia. 
• Advising a carbon developer on the financing of a mangrove project in Mozambique.
• Advising a bank on the financing and offtake of carbon credits from a biogenic carbon removal project in Scotland.
