Katharine is a Senior Associate in our Chongqing office in China since November 2018.  She is a PRC qualified lawyer who specialises in China corporate legal matters with a focus on FDI, M&A, IPO, corporate securities business and China outbound investments.   

Prior to joining Westlink Partnership, Katharine obtained her Master degree of Laws from University College London and she worked as an associate for Zhonglun Law Firm, one of the 'Red Circle' law firms in China.

Katharine acts for various clients including multinationals, private Chinese companies as well as large Chinese state-owned enterprises in various practice areas including distribution and supply chain structures; customs; trade and transportation. She advises clients on joint ventures, corporate financing and mergers and acquisitions including corporate reorganisations and merger controls.

Experience
  • Advising on an equity acquisition of an Australian mining (land-rich) company by a state-controlled listed company.
  • Advising on an equity merger and acquisition transaction between a China-domiciled petroleum tank company and a Dutch company.
  • Advising on IHG Intercontinental Hotel Group's domestic subsidiary's investment in construction projects near Shanghai Pudong Airport.
  • Managing the anti-trust filing of a cross-border transaction operator and successfully obtaining the clearance for the transaction.
  • Advising on the intra-group restructuring for an Australian listed company and IP registration in China.
  • Advising on the liquidation of the China subsidiary of the British clothing brand -­ Karen Millen.
  • Advising on an Australian insurance company's domestic equity investment.
  • Advising on the incorporation of a European insurance company's domestic joint venture company.
  • Advising on the incorporation of a domestic joint venture between a Brunei company and a Guangxi company.
  • Providing various legal advice for Marriott Hotel Group.
