Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Cherie trained and worked in a global U.S. headquartered firm in Hong Kong, where she gained extensive experience in advising clients on public and private mergers and acquisitions, general commercial transactions, as well as ongoing compliance matters involving the Hong Kong Listing Rules and the Codes on Takeovers and Mergers and Share Buy-Backs. She also handled a range of regulatory matters and investigations in relation to the Securities and Futures Commission and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. 

Cherie is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. 

Experience

Public and private mergers and acquisitions 

  • Acted for a leading Hong Kong-listed agri-food industry player in its approximately HK$7,000 million privatisation by way of a scheme of arrangement*
  • Acted for a subsidiary of a Taiwan-listed conglomerate in its approximately HK$589 million privatisation of a Hong Kong-listed company principally engaged in the design, manufacturing and sales of optical and opto-electronic products by way of a scheme of arrangement*
  • Acted for a Hong Kong-listed company in its proposed HK$960 million acquisition of an alternative asset management and consultancy group, which constitutes a very substantial acquisition and a reverse takeover under the Hong Kong Listing Rules*
  • Advised a leading international provider of compliance and administrative services in its acquisition of a provider of fund, trust and corporate services located in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Singapore*

  • Advised a global consulting company’s Hong Kong subsidiary in securing SFC’s approval to conduct Types 1, 4 and 6 regulated activities*
