Maria is a German lawyer at our Hamburg office since June 2021.
She studied law at the University of Hamburg with a focus on maritime commercial law.
Prior to her legal career, Maria first trained as a shipping agent, after which she practised the profession for two years in the chartering & operating department of a long-established shipping company in Hamburg.
She now combines her practical shipping experience with her legal knowledge and is specialised in all legal issues that may arise in conjunction with the maritime industry.

Advising carriers and P&I Clubs on disputes arising from voyage charterparties, such as the claims for demurrage, freight and dead freight and the defence of cargo claims, including the associated representation in arbitration or court proceedings
Enforcement of claims for loss of or damage to cargo, both for cargo interests as well as by way of recourse on behalf of transport insurers
Advice and legal defence of shipyards and refit companies of luxury yachts against claims for alleged defects
Advising a P&I Club and its member from the inland waterways industry against claims following an accident of a crew member
