Chris joined Clyde & Co in 2022 having worked at a panel firm since 2016. Chris qualified in March 2020 and has also completed a legal secondment at a busy NHS Trust. 
Chris’ experience includes advising NHS and public sector clients on a wide range of healthcare related issues including:

  • Mental health law – advice on cases relating to complex patients and applications to the Court of Protection for NHS Trusts and commissioners. Chris has been involved in complex healthcare cases and applications for serious medical treatment under the Mental Capacity Act. He advises on detention under the Mental Health Act, deprivation of liberty and best interests, capacity assessments, advance decision making and lasting powers of attorney, including on urgent and out of hours cases.
  • Inquests – Chris regularly supports clients through inquests from initial stages to the final hearing and advises on issues to be investigated, evidence required and likely outcome. He regularly does his own advocacy in Coroner’s Court on behalf of clients and will support clinical witnesses at all stages.
  • General Healthcare Advice – advising on healthcare policy, patient complaints, DNAR/DNACPR and serious incident investigations. Chris also has experience advising on information law relating to confidentiality related issues in health and social care. 

Chris studied philosophy at the University of Warwick and subsequently completed the graduate diploma in Law (GDL) and the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law, Moorgate.

  • Chris recently advised a number of large London Trusts on various serious medical treatment cases, including a reported complex withdrawal of treatment case Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust v Mrs C & Ors [2022] EWCOP 28
