Catherine is an Associate in the Clyde & Co LLP, London office, specialising in international arbitration and contractual dispute resolution with a particular focus on the energy, construction, shipping, international trade and telecommunication sectors. Catherine has worked on matters involving commercial contracts and/or investment arbitrations in the UK, the Middle East, North Africa and Asia. She works on a wide range of contentious matters and has experience in both international arbitrations (including ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL, CIETAC, GAFTA and FOSFA) and the UK Courts, relating to commercial or investment disputes.

Catherine has experience in advising clients, including states and companies, in relation to high value, multi-jurisdictional international contracts, and disputes arising out of those contracts.

Catherine is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Experience
  • Advising a Ministry on multiple ICC arbitrations concerning breach of Production Sharing Agreements by contractors of oil blocks in Yemen and involving multiple claims by the Ministry against the contractor groups.
  • Acting for the Republic of Yemen in an ICSID investment arbitration against a Chinese public company in relation to a construction project in Yemen.
  • Cocounseling with a top-rank Chinese law firm to act for a Chinese manufacturer and producer in an ICC arbitration concerning a share dispute.
  • Cocounseling with a top-rank Chinese law firm to act for a Chinese company in a CIETAC arbitration concerning a construction dispute.
  • Acting for a Ministry in an UNCITRAL arbitration concerning telecommunication disputes.
  • Acting for a Chinese state-owned company in an arbitration concerning a salvage dispute.
