Tarek Taha is a lawyer with over five years of experience in dispute resolution, particularly in the shipping, international trade, and offshore oil and gas sectors. He advises a broad range of clients including charterers, commodity traders and oil majors. He has worked on cases in the English High Court as well as London arbitration proceedings.
Tarek has a first-class Arabic legal and business language skills. Having spent time working in Dubai, he is able to provide invaluable assistance to MENA based clients in cross-border and multi jurisdiction proceedings.
Experience
- Advising sellers on liability in the aftermath of the unrest in Sudan.
- Advising charterers on liability for delay following damages to petrochemical products.
- Acting for the sellers of a second-hand ship in LMAA arbitration in a dispute related to a failed sale under the Norwegian saleform 2012.
- Advising owners in relation to unpaid hire on accounts of unavailability of vessels due to Covid-19 quarantine restrictions.
- Representing the guarantor bank in a LMAA arbitration regarding to the validity of refund guarantees provided in the context of a shipbuilding contract.
- Representing an oil & gas operator in multi-million ICC arbitration in a dispute arising out of the construction of a FSO vessel.
