Hannah Shaw

Hannah is a Legal Director working out of the Manchester office in our Casualty team. She specialises in the defence of catastrophic and large loss claims including motor, employers liability and public liability.

Hannah began her life at Clydes in the London casualty team, before moving to the Manchester office where she has worked for the last seven years. Having qualified in 2011, Hannah has spent her entire career to date working on Defendant catastrophic and large loss claims.

Hannah works on a range of cases with a value ranging from GBP 100,000 to claims in excess of GBP 1 million. Hannah is currently assisting a partner on a claim worth approximately GBP 20 million. Her experience includes dealing with claims including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and severe orthopaedic injuries. Hannah also currently handles numerous cases involving brain injured children.

Experience

• Regularly directly instructed by insurers in relation to a wide range of catastrophic and large loss claims.
• Advising insurers in complex high value personal injury claims in relation to legal liability and quantum.
• Recently ran a liability case to an eight-day liability Trial in the High Court, securing a win with costs being awarded.
• Secured a strike out of a case where liability was admitted and a significant offer was on the table open for acceptance. Costs awarded as a result in our favour.
• Recently secured numerous discontinuances of cases utilising surveillance which highlighted the potential for fraud.
• Regularly directly instructed by insurers in relation to a wide range of catastrophic and large loss claims.
