Craig represents airlines and their insurers in all aspects of dispute resolution and his experience includes, but is not limited to, major losses, subrogated actions, aircraft and related property damage claims and general liability matters such as personal injury, cargo and baggage claims.

He also has considerable experience in handling matters involving EU consumer rights legislation in the field of aviation law, in particular the carriage of passengers with reduced mobility.

His practice focuses on European, African and Middle Eastern jurisdictions and he is adept at obtaining positive outcomes in often challenging environments.  Craig's understanding of his clients' expectations enables him to achieve commercially viable and pragmatic solutions.

Experience
  • A member of the team who advised insurers in relation to the Afriqiyah Airways crash at Tripoli
  • Advising insurers in relations to claims arising from the Aria Airlines crash at Mashad, Iran
  • Advising Gulf Air and their insurers in relation to matters arising from a runway excursion upon landing at Kochi International Airport involving one of the airline’s A319 aircraft
  • Advising reinsurers in relation to fatality and personal injury claims arising out of the crash of a hot air balloon being operated by Balloon Adventures Emirates in Abu Dhabi
  • Acting on behalf of reinsurers in respect of ongoing litigation before the Supreme Court in India relating to the Indian Airlines crash at Ahmedabad
  • Acting for subrogated insurers in successful recovery action before Romanian courts against Baneasa Airport and Romanian Air Traffic Control in relation to extensive damage caused to a Lear 60 aircraft that struck runway works upon landing
  • Defence of Greek Arbitration proceedings on behalf of Olympic Airways in respect of significant hull damage claim made by TUI
  • Advising several carriers and their insurers in relation to claims arising out of the Cargo Warehouse Fire at Istanbul Airport
  • Advising insurers with regard to a potential subrogation action in The Netherlands against Schiphol Airport Authority to recover a hull loss arising out of a runway excursion
  • Craig was a member of the team that acted on behalf of the UK Ministry of Defence and its insurers in the defence of a high value fatality claim arising out of the crash of a light aircraft at Newquay Airport
  • Successfully defending a major UK carrier in proceedings brought by a disabled passenger who suffered personal injury and sought to recover damages in excess of £13 million
  •  Assisting an African national carrier in the establishment of its UK operations
