Florian’s practice focuses on litigation, arbitration, and all other forms of dispute resolution and insurance law, especially in the financial and professional lines (D&O, E&O, IP, PI, Cyber) as well as fine art & specie. He regularly acts as monitoring, coverage and defence counsel in complex domestic and international D&O, E&O and PI cases, including advising clients in liability, technology, and insolvency law questions. Florian also focuses on art and intellectual property law, particularly including copyright and related rights, media and entertainment law, trade secrets, know-how, domains, and unfair competition law. He is part of the firm’s artificial intelligence team.
In addition, Florian has broad experience in a variety of contentious and non-contentious commercial law matters, inter alia related to art, aviation, transport, insolvency and product liability law. Florian has also worked inhouse as legal counsel while being seconded to the legal department of a leading German car manufacturer and a major international insurer.
Florian studied law at the University of Augsburg, including lengthier stays abroad in Chicago, London, and Toronto. He spent his legal traineeship in Munich and Melbourne and holds an LL.M. in international intellectual property law from Chicago-Kent College of Law, USA, and was awarded a doctorate (Dr iur) from the University of Frankfurt. Florian is also a lecturer at the University of Munich and the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich (media law / art law). Before joining Clyde & Co, Florian worked for other renowned international and German business law firms for several years.
Florian has been recognized as ‘One to Watch’ by Best Lawyers® in Germany 2023 for litigation, arbitration and mediation as well as insurance law and intellectual property.
