Bethan is a Legal Director in the Manchester office. Bethan has specialised in Clinical Negligence litigation for over 15 years and has particular experience in fatal accident claims and claims arising from healthcare inquest proceedings.

Bethan works primarily for MDO and insurer clients, acting for GPs, dentists and other primary healthcare professionals.

Experience

• Represented the defendant dentist in a complex periodontal claim in which the Court found that the Claimant had been 35% contributory negligent (Rix v Wall [2023 Med LR 607])
• Successfully defended a Consultant Neurosurgeon in a claim relating to nerve injury sustained by a minor during spinal surgery
• Successfully defended a series of claims brought by a vexatious litigant in person against a Prison GP
• Currently representing a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon in a high-profile action
• Facilitated pilot Settlement Day on behalf of MDO client, resulting in all but two claims being resolved on the day
• Secured a strike out of a claim pursued by a vexatious litigant in person whilst acting on behalf of multiple dentists
• Successfully defended a consent claim brought against a prolific Ophthalmic Surgeon, ensuring his reputation was preserved.
