Jack Ormond is an experienced trial lawyer and a vigorous courtroom advocate. Jack's practice focuses on insurance coverage, bad faith, and related insurance litigation. His commercial litigation practice includes handling breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent or negligent misrepresentation, professional negligence claims, quasi-contractual or equitable claims, and other disputes arising from all types of business transactions. He has defended companies against a variety of product and premises liability claims, as well as catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims.
Jack has litigated all kinds of disputes in state and federal courts throughout Texas. He won his first jury trial while still in law school, interning for a prosecutor in Michigan. He later honed his trial skills as a prosecutor back home in Texas, trying roughly 50 cases to verdict.
Jack has represented individuals and companies of all sizes, from family-owned to Fortune 500. He has helped resolve a wide array of legal problems for businesses in a variety of industries, including accounting, financial, insurance, legal, medical, hospitality, manufacturing, construction, oil and gas, power, and food and drug.

Experience
- Successfully defended a construction company accused of negligence for leaving equipment in a roadway, which resulted in a one-vehicle accident. After six days of trial, the jury did as we asked, placing 50% of the blame on the plaintiff-driver and refusing to award him or his passenger most of the damages they requested.
- Obtained multi-million-dollar jury verdict for plaintiff in a case involving the breach of a patent licensing agreement. The jury awarded 100% of the requested damages, interest, and attorneys’ fees.
- Obtained summary judgment for construction company sued by a truck driver who was injured while unloading construction materials.
- Obtained numerous summary judgments in premises liability cases; successfully defended on appeal to Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
- Defended utility services company involved in multi-vehicle collision that resulted in four deaths.
- Successfully resolved negligence claim brought against a road construction company by an employee whose on-the-job injury resulted in a leg amputation.
- Defended a construction company sued by the family of their employee who was killed in a workplace accident.
