Marianne May has more than 25 years of experience representing insurance carriers and institutional clients. Her practice involves a wide variety of complex coverage matters, including directors and officers, errors and omissions, excess liability, professional liability, products, construction, bad faith, first-party policies and pollution liability policies. She has handled cases in numerous jurisdictions, including New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, California, Indiana, Washington, Texas, New Mexico, Massachusetts, North Carolina and Virginia. She has also handled coverage claims arising out of underlying actions in China and South America.
Marianne has advised her clients with respect to a wide variety of insurance products, including "occurrence" based primary and excess policies, claims-made policies, personal accident policies, employers liability and property policies. The types of claims with which she has experience include head trauma, pollution, asbestos, large scale fire losses, antitrust, wrongful imprisonment, nuisance from farm and business operations, product liability and construction defect. Her practice includes litigation, mediation and providing coverage advice to clients outside of litigation. Two of Marianne's notable recent accomplishments include obtaining a favorable opinion from the California Court of Appeal regarding an excess insurer's right to pursue a primary insurer for bad faith failure to settle within primary limits, and obtaining summary judgment for an insurer in a sizable New Jersey case enforcing "related wrongful acts" language in a claims-made policy.
