Andrew Miller

Andy Miller practices in the area of general commercial litigation at both the trial and appellate levels, with particular emphasis on insurance and reinsurance, including general liability, media/technology liability and professional liability.  He has participated in the successful defense of some of the largest insurance coverage cases ever tried to verdict in California. Andy has led a number of jurisdictional challenges on behalf of the firm’s foreign clients sued in US courts. 

Beyond his insurance experience, Andy has defended personal injury and products liability actions, trademark licensing and unfair competition disputes and a variety of consumer class actions.  Although his practice is predominantly defense-oriented, Andy regularly prosecutes subrogation actions.  He has also represented individuals and organizations in carefully-chosen plaintiffs' cases, including a number of highly successful consumer class actions.

In addition to his other professional activities, Andy volunteers as an attorney with the AIDS Legal Referral Panel, has served as a judge pro tempore in San Francisco Superior Court, and is a 20-year veteran of (and Regional Legal Advisor to) the National Ski Patrol. He regularly serves as a speaker at insurance-related and client training seminars, addressing such issues as the defense of insurer witnesses at deposition, indemnity agreements, the California Fair Claims Settlement Practices Act and the mediation of complex coverage cases. Before entering law practice, Andy danced professionally for a number of years.
