Graham advises insurers and their customers on a wide variety of matters across the financial lines sector.  Based in London, Graham is regularly instructed on multinational complex matters.  His focus is on Financial Institutions, D&O and Commercial PI.

With over 20 years of experience in his specialist sector, Graham has in depth knowledge of civil liability claims, civil and criminal regulatory investigations and criminal prosecutions.

Graham started off in the financial lines market advising Insurers on product drafting.  This makes Graham a real expert in coverage matters where he uses his insight to help determine an early strategy for Insurers to resolve difficult coverage disputes with a customer.  When Graham is instructed to advise on and monitor claims, he is able to draw on his expertise in the sector to ensure claims are resolved appropriately and efficiently, all the time backed by accurate reserving advice.

Graham is regularly instructed by companies in the financial service sector and by directors to defend claims pursued against them.

  • Advising D&O Insurers on various UK based securities claims under FSMA against FTSE100 companies
  • Advising FI Insurers of a global financial services company in respect of liability claims in the US arising from alleged facilitation of a Ponzi scheme concerning solar energy
  • Advising PTL Insurers on notification and aggregation issues in respect of claims against pension trustees pursued by more than 30 sponsoring employers
  • Advising Commercial PI Insurers in relation to allocation of claims between PI And D&O Policies for losses arising from an FCA investigation and redress scheme
  • Advising Insurers under D&O and POSI policies in relation to multinational regulatory investigations, litigation in the UAE, US and other jurisdictions, following the collapse of a large financial services company shortly after listing on the LSE
  • Defending Directors in a variety of sectors for claims for negligence, misfeasance and breach of duty
  • Defending civil liability claims against an Insurer for alleged dishonest business conduct
  • Defending civil liability claims against insurance brokers in relation to a variety of alleged negligent acts including failure to obtain sufficient or appropriate insurance, failure to make fair presentation and failure to notify in accordance with policy terms
