Alexandra Lester is a commercial litigation and arbitration lawyer with particular expertise in technology, digital, telecommunications and media disputes.

She has practised law in the UK and UAE, and has been based in Dubai advising clients in the Middle East since 2015. Prior to becoming a lawyer Alexandra worked for a leading international ICT company in the UK, negotiating major contracts and resolving disputes.

The Legal 500 ranked Alexandra as a ‘Rising Star’ since 2020.

She co-manages Clyde & Co’s Technology and Digital sector group. She is also a member of the Society of Computers and Law.

Experience

• Telecommunications - Successfully resolving disputes arising from telecommunications infrastructure projects in three African countries valued at c. USD0.5 billion for a major telecommunications supplier
• Media and Technology - Representing the claimant in arbitration proceedings in a claim arising from changes and delays in a major media broadcast network implementation
• Media and Defamation - Pursuing and defending various defamation and cybercrime claims in the UAE including criminal complaints and civil claims
• Technology - Successfully defending a client in a claim in the UAE Courts for alleged deficiencies in performance of consultancy and project management services related to robotics and data storage projects
• DIFC Courts - Pursuing and defending injunctive proceedings in the DIFC Courts
• Technology and regulatory – Advising a technology client on social media and advertising regulations in KSA ahead of a product launch
• Media – Assisting a media client to resolve various disputes arising under media content agreements, achieving the client’s goal of amicable resolution without proceedings to preserve commercial relationships
