Olga joined Clyde & Co in 2017, having completed LLB and LLM degrees with a particular emphasis on various aspects of shipping, marine insurance and international trade law and having obtained previous experience working in the marine sector. Since joining the firm, Olga has focused on disputes under bills of lading, charterparties, ship management agreements and bunker quality disputes. Her clients include International Group P&I Clubs, shipowners, charterers, ship managers, oil and gas companies as well as cargo interests. She regularly advises clients on these issues and represents them in court and arbitration proceedings (particularly those governed by the LMAA Terms). Olga’s practice is cross-border and she routinely works with clients, counterparties and colleagues in different jurisdictions.

In addition, Olga has experience of drafting shipping related contracts and providing advice on parties’ rights and obligations thereunder.

Olga is fluent in English, French and Russian. 

Experience
  • Defending Owners in an LMAA arbitration involving a US$60 million claim arising out of an alleged mis-delivery and/or conversion of liquid cargo carried on board clients’ vessel;
  • Advising Charterers on the liability to pay demurrage as a result of the delays suffered by the vessel en route to a Ukrainian port;
  • Defending Owners in an LMAA arbitration involving a multi-million US$ chemical contamination claim;
  • Advising Charterers on the merits of Owners’ claim for outstanding hire as a result of the vessel having to remove off-specification bunkers and source compliant fuel;
  • Providing advice on the merits of an action against Owners of a large container vessel arising out of a delay and resultant losses incurred by an owner of a large number of containers;
  • Defending a major UK-based liability insurer in an action brought against it by its insured involving several sets of legal proceedings; and   
  • Assisting a large number of cargo interests in a recovery action due to damage to and loss of their cargo as a result of a fire incident onboard a major container vessel.
