Nicola is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution Group at Clyde & Co’s Dubai office.

Nicola advises clients on contentious and non-contentious commercial matters in the MENA region. Nicola has an extensive experience in handling  commercial litigation disputes before the local courts in the MEAN region including but not limited disputes arising out of commercial contracts, maritime and shipping ventures , international trade contracts, insurance and reinsurance, and real estate.

Nicola’s experience extends to include advising on disputes involving bankruptcy. He also advises on disputes involving enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitration award in the MENA region. 

Nicola is fluent in English and Arabic.
 

Experience

• Representing and successfully defending a major insurance company against multiple claims before the courts of Syria.
• Representing and successfully defending a major shipping line against cargo claims and charterparties claims before the courts of Syria. 
• Advising on arbitration procedures in relation to various commercial and contractual disputes in accordance with the rules of the London Maritime Arbitration Association, and the rules of Dubai International Financial Centre, and the rules of the London Court of the International Arbitration.
• Advising international clients on the recognition and the enforcement of foreign arbitration awards in UAE.
• Assisting in defending a global property development company in Dubai Courts in multiple claims for an alleged breach of contract. 
• Representing clients in various litigation procedures related to various commercial, civil and criminal disputes.
