Daniel is head of the English law team in Clyde & Co's Hamburg office, after joining from Ince & Co in 2018. He has been living and working in Hamburg since 2008, and can accept instructions in English or German. He often acts for German and Scandinavian shipowners, operators, managers and their insurers in contentious matters in London maritime arbitration and the English courts.

Daniel has a large amount of experience in shipbuilding disputes, including in relation to delay, cancellation, shipyard insolvency, cargo tank coating, quality disputes and refund guarantee claims. He advises clients in relation to charterparty issues under time and voyage charters, Sale & Purchase contracts, cargo claims, insurance disputes and sanctions issues; and in relation to disputes under ship-management contracts.

Daniel is heavily involved in yachting matters. He advises yacht owners and insurers in relation to newbuilding projects, and claims involving yachtbuilding, chartering, cargo, carriage, Sale & Purchase, insurance claims including casualty and CTL cases, and crew/personal injury claims.

Daniel represents oil and metals traders in sale contract and shipping disputes.

He is recognized as an ‘excellent’ lawyer and recommended by Legal 500.
